Handover at the end
On installation day the fitting team delivers the finished worktop, prepares and checks the units, positions and levels the pieces, makes any joins, fits around the sink and hob, and seals the edges and joins. They then clean up and hand the kitchen over to you with care advice. For a standard kitchen this is usually completed in a single day. Installation day, step by step
Before the day: how to prepare
A little preparation makes the day run smoothly. Clear the old worktop and the surrounding area, make sure the units are empty on top and easy to access, and confirm with your supplier whether removing the old worktop is included or something you need to arrange. Keeping pets and children clear of the work area also helps. Your installer will tell you anything specific to your kitchen. Confirming what is included links back to what a quote should include.
Step one: delivery and preparation
The team arrives with the finished worktop, already cut and polished to your templated measurements. They check the units are level and ready, and prepare the surfaces so the worktop will sit correctly. This careful start is what makes the rest of the day go well.
Step two: positioning and levelling
The pieces are carefully lifted into place and levelled. Quartz is heavy, so this is done by a team with the right equipment. Getting the worktop level and properly seated is essential before any joins are made. Our guide on DIY versus hiring a fitter explains why this is skilled work.
Step three: joins, cut-outs and sealing
Where the kitchen has more than one piece, the joins are aligned and bonded so they are barely visible. The worktop is fitted around the sink and hob, and the edges and joins are sealed. Our guides on joins and seams and how sinks and hobs are cut show the detail behind this step.
Step four: clean up and handover
At the end of the day the team cleans up, removes their waste and walks you through the finished worktop. They will give you care advice, including any guidance on sealant or adhesive around joins and sinks and when the surface is ready to use. This handover is your chance to ask any questions before they leave. Because Precious Marble fits with its own in-house team, the people handing over are the same company that templated and fabricated your worktop. Our guide on how to choose an installer explains why that matters.
