Daily Care

Daily care is quick and easy. After cooking or preparing food, clear the surface and wipe it down with a soft cloth or sponge dampened with warm water and a small amount of neutral washing up liquid. Rinse with clean water to remove any detergent residue, then dry with a microfibre cloth. Drying helps prevent water spots, particularly in hard water areas.

Weekly Care

Once a week, give the whole worktop a slightly more thorough clean. Move small appliances, clean behind taps and around the sink and hob and pay attention to areas where grease and limescale collect. On textured finishes such as Riverwashed, a soft brush helps lift residue from the fine texture without scratching.

Check the silicone around sinks and splashbacks at the same time. These seals are separate from the Neolith slab and may need cleaning or eventually renewing, just as they would with any worktop.

Tackling Tougher Marks

Because Neolith does not absorb liquids, most marks are residue sitting on the surface. For anything that soap and water will not shift, Neolith care guidance matches the type of mark to a category of cleaner. Always read the product label, test on a small hidden area and rinse thoroughly afterwards.

Caring for Different Finishes

Neolith is available in several finishes. Each benefits from slightly different care. Polished finishes show fingerprints and water spots more readily, so regular drying keeps them gleaming. Avoid abrasive pads that could dull the shine. Matt finishes such as Silk hide marks well and need only simple wiping. Textured finishes such as Riverwashed may trap fine residue, so an occasional clean with a soft brush keeps them fresh.

Protecting Edges and Joins

The surface of Neolith is extremely tough, yet edges and corners are the areas most likely to be damaged by impacts. Take care when handling heavy pans and appliances near edges and consider rounded or bevelled edge profiles in busy areas. Joins are bonded with adhesive, so avoid placing very hot pans directly over them and clean them gently.

Care for Outdoor Neolith

Outdoor Neolith worktops need the same basic care, with a few extra considerations. Clear leaves, pollen and bird droppings promptly, as these can leave residue if left to dry in the sun. Rinse the surface regularly with clean water and use a mild detergent for barbecue grease. Neolith’s frost and UV resistance mean no special winter treatment is needed, although covering an outdoor kitchen keeps it cleaner between uses.

If Something Goes Wrong

If your worktop is chipped or you notice a mark that will not shift, contact your installer before trying anything drastic. Take clear photos and note what caused the problem if you know. Small chips can often be repaired professionally with colour matched resin, while stubborn residue usually responds to the right cleaner. Acting early and asking for advice nearly always leads to a better result than a rushed attempt with harsh products.

A Quick Care Checklist

It can help to keep a short checklist in a kitchen drawer, especially in the first few months after installation. Wipe and dry the surface after cooking. Use chopping boards for all cutting. Lift rather than slide heavy pans and appliances. Clean limescale around taps before it builds up. Check sink and splashback seals once a month.
