The Seven Stages of the Journey

Stage 1: Inspiration

Every journey begins with an idea. Gather images of kitchens you love and notice what draws your eye. Are you after a classic marble look, a calm solid colour or a bold industrial finish? At the same time, take rough measurements and set a realistic budget. There is no pressure to decide anything yet, only to build a picture of what you would love.

Stage 2: The Showroom Visit

Stage 3: Living With Samples

Stage 4: Quote and Order

Once you have chosen a design, your quote is confirmed. This includes the thickness, finish, edge profile, number and type of cut outs, upstands or splashbacks and any special features such as drainer grooves or waterfall ends. Check that everything you expect is included, then approve the specification and place your order. Your order confirmation is also a good document to keep with your warranty paperwork.

Stage 5: Templating

Templating is the moment your kitchen is measured precisely for the new worktop. It takes place once your base cabinets are fully fitted, fixed and level. Your sink, tap and hob choices should be finalised, as their exact dimensions are needed for accurate cut outs. We use laser templating to capture every detail, including walls that are not perfectly straight.

Stage 6: Fabrication

After templating, your worktops are cut and finished in our workshop. Sintered stone requires specialist tools and careful handling, with cut out corners radiused and edges finished to your chosen profile. Veining is planned so it flows naturally across joins and waterfall ends. Fabrication time varies with the complexity of the job and our schedule, which we will confirm when you order.

Stage 7: Installation

On installation day, our team delivers and fits your worktops, checks levels and alignment, bonds any joins and installs undermount sinks where needed. Silicone is applied where required and the surface is cleaned. Once everything is in place, your plumber or electrician can reconnect taps and appliances.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

A few simple missteps cause most delays. Booking templating before cabinets are fixed and level is the most common. Changing appliances after templating can mean cut outs no longer fit. Choosing a design from a small chip without seeing a larger sample can lead to surprises. Forgetting to register the warranty within six months can mean losing extended cover.

Planning Around the Rest of Your Kitchen

Your worktop is one part of a wider kitchen project, so its timing needs to fit with other trades. Cabinets must be installed before templating. Plumbers and electricians are usually needed after the worktop is fitted to connect taps, sinks and hobs. Tilers or splashback installers typically follow once the worktop is in place.
